Organization Structure
Florida Gas Utility (FGU) is a non-profit municipal joint action agency that provides a variety of natural gas-related services to its 26 Members across the state of Florida for more than 35 years. Members include municipal-owned local distribution systems and electric generation utilities. In 1989, Florida Gas Utility was formed under the provisions of Section 163.01 Florida Statutes which permits local governments to make the most efficient use of their powers by enabling them to cooperate with other localities on a basis of mutual advantage.
Originally consisting of five municipal utilities with the sole focus of natural gas supply acquisition, FGU has since grown to 26 Members and evolved to offer a multitude of other natural gas-related services such as rate studies, project management, regulatory compliance, sales and marketing, and so much more.
